***Always check the calendar for last minute changes before coming to the range.***

***Non-Match ranges are posted Thursday night for the coming weekend.***

***Matches appear on the Calendar well in advance as we need base approvals 3-months prior***

Range Control notifies the QSC of available ranges on Sunday night for the coming weekend (remember, RC has to de-conflict 39 Quantico Ranges). Our Chief RSO notifies our RSO cadre of available ranges and asks for volunteers to open ranges (3 per range). By Thursday night we know if we can or cannot open a range and it is placed on the Calendar Thursday night or Friday morning. If RSOs don't respond, then ranges will not open. Our volunteer RSOs are vitally important to the success of the club - consider becoming an RSO to help all shooters and allow us to open all ranges.

  • Click the Event Title in the calendar date block to get additional information on the course of fire or limits for the day's shooting
  • If NO ranges are posted by Friday morning, it could be due to all ranges being closed - check back the following week
  • If no Marine training is taking place on MCBQ ranges, then all ranges (and QSC) will be closed
  • If there are no events listed for a future date, the event may be awaiting confirmation of RSO availability
  • Members can bring Guests - Report to the Clubhouse and sign a waiver, pay the $10 Range Fee (each) and receive a guest pass that is provided to the RSO at the range
  • Must have a QSC member card

GENERAL INFORMATION

Range Hours:  0715 – 1400

Gate Open:  0715

Target set up and Sign In starts at approx. 0715.

Safety Briefing at Registration behind the Firing Line at 0745, or as soon as the RSO Team is ready.

The Range will go Hot ASAP following the Safety Briefing.  Please be on time.

We will try to maintain a cycle of 45/15 minute hot/cold times.

Shooters showing up throughout the day will first sign in and then receive a safety brief from an RSO prior to carrying gear to the firing line.

NOTE: If you arrive after 1245, you will not have the opportunity to place your target.

Please present your current QSC membership card upon sign in.  All guests must check in at the QSC Clubhouse and pay guest fee, sign waivers and present guest pass to a range RSO prior to shooting.

At the start of the range day, you MAY bring CASED firearms to the firing line during target set up time.

HOWEVER, Do NOT uncase any firearms until AFTER the safety briefing is complete AND RSOs have communicated that the Firing Line is Hot.

Throughout the remainder of the range day, firearms will be brought and removed from the firing line CASED, and only uncased and re-cased AT the firing line and ONLY when the firing line is HOT.

There will be NO handling of uncased firearms whatsoever while the firing line is COLD.

Drawing from holsters will be permitted at the RSO Team discretion.  Firing line congestion and other risk factors will be considered in making the decision.  RSO decision is not negotiable!

Shooters must bring their own targets, target stands, tools, fasteners, personal protective equipment, and other materials.

Targets are limited to paper, wood, plastic, and approved ballistic steel.

Steel Targets

Ballistic steel targets must be a minimum of 3/8" thick and constructed of AR-500 steel.

Minimum engagement distances for portable ballistic steel targets

Pistol:                        8 yards

Shotgun (pellets):      11 yards

Shotgun (slugs):        55 yards

Rifle caliber 7.62:      110 yards

Rifle caliber .300WM     320 yards

Paper Target Note:  Non-metal pistol targets placed closer than 25 yards must be as tall as the shooter.  Targets must not exceed the height of the impact area when viewed from your intended shooting position on the firing line.

Cross-shooting - Stay in your lane

Shooters are responsible for ensuring their target stands are not in the line of sight of other targets and they are not shooting someone else’s target.  That includes USMC PITS.  Know what is up and down range of your target.  The RSOs will check this, and lost range time will result if an issue is discovered.

ALL target material and brass must be removed from range after rec fire. Please pick up your own brass and trash.  Brass buckets will be available for casings, NOT trash.  Pack it in. Pack it out.

Range 4 - 600/1000 yard

Range 4 - 600/1000yd day

We will start the day on the 600 yard and shoot for 1-2 hours mac before we move back to the 1000 yard line for the remainder of the day.

Report to Range Safety Officers as soon as you enter the range for other instructions.  We may have changes so be flexible and we'll have a great shooting day.   KD Target Frame are available to members on the range now.  Just come to pits and RSO will issue you a target frame to use.  Please ensure you have an Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) available.  If you don't have one, stop by the clubhouse and buy one for $1.00.  Using one aids the RSOs in the identification of firearm status and speeds up the unload and show clear safety process.

Due to ammunition shortages we will close if the ammo runs out!!!  Get here early.

Range Opens:  Report to Gate 7 off Willis Road at 0715.  Gate closes 0745.  Range Safety Brief will be issued on the 600 yard line at 0750.  Upon confirmation that the QSC EMT is present, we will go HOT.   Reminder: Get here Early. Questions: Call Skip 703 987 7520

Course of Fire: Shoot from 600yd for approx 2 hours (until ~1000a) then move to 1000yd for remainder of day.

Please come on time (0715) for 600yd shooting and on site no later than 0930 at the 600yd line for instructions on 1000yd shooting. The transition from 600 to 1000yds will happen rapidly and shooters need to be on site and adapt accordingly.

Steel & all target frames: Set up time is 0715-0745.  GATE 7 WILL CLOSE AT 0745.   Don't come mid-morning and expect us to stop the range so you can set up, we come on time so you come on time. Big Boy Rules here.  Steel Targets set at target points 25-50 only.   Steel Targets:  have your frame perfected before coming to range. You do not have time to fool around,  have your steel target sorted out and quick to install / take down.

Shooters:  All Shooters come prepared for quick target set up. No vehicles on any grass, keep on roads. Targets, hydration and food - bring yours-- none provided.   We do have KD frames for you to attach your paper targets...ask RSO in pits for a frame.  YOU MUST Wear ear plugs and ear muffs and have eye protection per USMC base regulations.

Membership cards will be inspected to ensure you are a current club member (liability and safety). Membership cards that have expired can be renewed at club house.

Recommend that you bring clothing for winter shooting and water to hydrate.

General Guidelines:

All guests must check in at the QSC Clubhouse with their club member sponsor to pay the guest fee and sign waivers prior to shooting.

Guests will present the guest pass to the range safety officer on the range at check-in.

Bring your CASED firearms and gear to the firing line only AFTER you have checked in with an RSO, shown your QSC membership card, your guests have shown their guest passes, and all shooters have completed and signed the club sign-in sheet.

Do NOT uncase any firearms until AFTER the safety briefing is complete AND RSOs have communicated that the Range is Hot.

Shooters showing up throughout the day will first sign in and then receive a safety brief from an RSO prior to carrying gear to the firing line.

The range will go hot/cold as needed at roughly 45/15 minute intervals, and potentially more frequently if it will optimize range usage.

Shooters must bring their own targets, target stands, tools, fasteners, personal protective equipment, and other materials. Hearing and eye protection are mandatory.

Targets are limited to paper, wood, plastic, and approved ballistic steel. Ballistic steel targets must be a minimum of 3/8" thick and constructed of AR-500 steel. Soft steel is not allowed.

Steel Targets:

Minimum engagement distances for portable ballistic steel targets:

Pistol:                                      8 yards

Shotgun (birdshot):                 11 yards

Shotgun (slugs):                      55 yards

Rifle caliber up to 7.62:          110 yards

Rifle caliber .300WM             320 yards

Non-metal pistol targets must be placed and shot in a manner so that all rounds impact the downrange impact berm. No shooting directly into the dirt in front of you.

Firing Line:

The firing line MAY be established forward of the Shoot House 2 paved area to maximize distance between shooters and range capacity. When aligned forward of the overhead cover and on the dirt, there will be orange cones on the left and right limit of the firing line indicating the farthest positions that shooters can occupy on the firing line. Shooters should plan accordingly for grass and dirt. Use of a tarp is suggested.

Shooters should identify their intended target distance to the RSO upon checking in. An attempt will be made to put shooters engaging distant targets on the left and shooters engaging closer targets on the right, as viewed from the firing line to the pits.

Drawing from holsters not permitted if we are in the covered house.  If not in covered house, RSOs may allow based on certain conditions.

Trash and Residue:

ALL target material, shell casings, and trash must be removed from the range after firing. There should be no trace of activity left on the range. If you pack it in, pack it out. If you move tables forward of their position in the covered area, you are responsible for putting them back.

RSOs:

Your RSOs are here for the safety of all club members on the range, so please follow all their commands and enjoy your time on Range 1, safely.
