The Quantico Shooting Club (QSC) is a 501C-7 Not-for-Profit corporation operating as a non-federal entity on Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ). The club is chartered in accordance with MCBQ directives and Memorandums of Agreement that direct our activities. As a Not-for-Profit, all contributions to the club, monetary or otherwise, including annual dues and volunteer hours, are not tax-deductible.
Our Mission:
To promote marksmanship and and provide advanced training opportunities for Marines to increase their skills and lethality. QSC is also allowed to accept other military service members and their families, retirees, and others eligible for membership, as well as their authorized guests. We mentor on small arms firing techniques and marksmanship training methods. The QSC encourages small arms competition among Marines, other military organizations, and civilian competitors in cooperation with the Virginia Shooting Sports Association, USA Shooting, The National Rifle Association of America (NRA), and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). We take every opportunity to advance competitive shooting programs among Marines and U.S. citizens, contributing to national defense and public safety, and while promoting the responsible use of firearms, safe handling and storage practices and good sportsmanship.
The Club:
The QSC is a private organization, we have no affiliation with the federal government, Department of Defense or any of its components. We are located on MCBQ, operate as a non-federal entity, and are subject to laws and rules not usually found in a town or locality; federal laws and military regulations and rules apply.
The Ranges: Detailed range information and rules are available by going to the Ranges Tab on the main menu. There is a top level page with a map of the complex, safety and transport rules, and drop down menus with valuable range information.
MCBQ has made the Calvin A. Lloyd range complex available to club members on weekends. These ranges, many dating back to WWII, are mature square range complexes offering the finest shooting anywhere in Northern Virginia and the surrounding area.
- Range 1 - A 300 meter (320y) multipurpose range with 21 covered firing positions from 10 to 130 yards and 320 yards. Rifle, pistol, shotgun and black powder on any lane. 50BMG is approved, but no 338.
- Range 2 & 3 - 600-yard rifle range with 50 shooting positions located at 100-yard increments. Up to .50 caliber ammunition and below is authorized on this range. There are target carriages in the pits on Ranges 2 & 3
- Range 4 - 1,000-yard range (add 35-yards to the back impact area) with 50 shooting positions located at 100-yard increments. Heavy calibers are allowed and there are target carriages in the pits, you can place steel / paper targets on the berm or clays on the rear impact area
- Ironman (Formerly Range 305) - A 450-yard multipurpose range with targets located between 10 and 460 yards and with steel out to 700 yards. This range is for rifle, pistol and shotgun recreational fire and competition such as Multi-gun and 2-gun matches. Calibers up to .300WM and .50BMG are allowed
- SAT Range - The Small Arms Tactical range is a 35-yard range with four bays, each holding about 10-15 shooters. SAT is used for a variety of recreational pistol, rifle and shotgun fire and USPSA, Steel Challenge, Falling Steel, and 3/2 gun matches
- International Trap - The Shotgun Range includes one International Trap field for international single and double-trap events. Up to 7.5 shot ammunition may be used on this range – no buckshot or slugs
- Trap and Skeet - Three American Skeet fields and one American Trap field. Up to 7.5 shot ammunition may be used on this range - no buckshot or slugs
Management:
The Club is led by a five-member Board of Directors (Officers) elected by the Club membership and supported by non-voting Match Directors. The Board's Officers consist of the President and Vice President, a Secretary and Treasurer, and a Member-at-Large. The Board meets at least monthly to ensure the club's health and prosperity while acting to promote a wide-variety of shooting activities. The organization is regulated by DoD, , Department of the Navy, USMC and MCBQ regulations requiring specific membership, management and financial controls. We operate under the auspices of MCBQ, and assist the MCBQ Weapons Training Battalion (WTBN) with shooting matches and basic firearms activities.
Membership:
Membership in the organization includes two groups, Regular Members and Associate Members. Per our agreements with MCBQ, we must maintain a ratio of significantly more Regular members to Associate members. Regular members include active duty and retired members of the military as well as active and retired DoD Civilians. Associate members are any others including, but not limited to, GS employees and non-affiliated civilians.
We offer several different disciplines for the shooting enthusiast. If you are a new shooter, we can assist you with the fundamentals. For the more experienced marksman, our club hosts rifle, pistol, and shotgun competitions and advanced marksmanship training. Like our Marine hosts, we are committed to Range Safety, marksmanship and excellence. However, please be aware that you must provide you own target, stand, weapon, and ammo.
Visiting the Ranges and Base:
When you visit the QSC, you'll be entering through a military checkpoint. The Marine guards / DoD Police are armed law enforcement officers, obey their direction and commands.
You will be stopped at the gate and each member of your party could be asked for appropriate identification. From there you will follow our map to reach the QSC Office. Before visiting the facility, please read the information on the Transporting Firearms onboard MCB Quantico. Concealed carry is not permitted on base unless you are an active, credentialed, Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Lastly, please be aware that the roads leading up to the base checkpoint and all roads after the checkpoint are patrolled by Military Police. THERE IS STRICT RADAR ENFORCEMENT OF ALL SPEED LIMITS.
