Ironman Range - (formerly Range 305)

You must bring your own targets (and target stands unless using a KD frame), hydration, sunscreen, bug spray, ear and eye protection, etc.

Always check the club calendar for any last minute changes before coming to the range.

Ironman is a recreational fire range for rifle, pistol and shotgun, and QSC holds PRS and Quantified Performance matches on Ironman. This unknown distance range allows target placement from 7 yards to 450 yards, and it has fixed USMC steel targets out to 700 yards.

Rifle ammunition up to .300 Win mag and .50BMG is authorized. There are minimum distances for steel targets, see below.

Muzzleloaders .75 caliber and below may be used.

Shotguns firing shot sizes #7 and larger as well as double 00 buckshot and slugs.

Members must bring their own targets and stands. Steel targets allowed (see minimum distances below). Metal target stands are allowed.

Members and guests are encouraged to read the Ironman Range SOP and rules about Transporting Firearms aboard MCBQ.

Minimum Distances for Steel - MCBQ updated the minimum distances for engaging "steel reactive targets." The new guidance for steel targets is:

  • Pistol - 10 yards (No pistol magnum calibers, FN 5.7 or +P ammo on steel at this distance)
  • Pistol (Braced) / PCC (pistol calibers) / Rimfire Rifle - 25 yards
  • Shotgun (Buck / Bird Shot) - 11 yards
  • Shotgun (Slug) - 55 yards
  • 5.56mm / .223 Ball - 110 yards
  • 7.62mm / .308 Ball - 110 yards
  • 300 Win Mag - 320 yards
  • No dueling trees, Texas Stars, or other gimmick-like targets except when shot in approved matches (e.g., USPSA / Steel Challenge)
  • Steel shooters may be segregated to one side of the firing line or other, and with a minimum lateral distance of 6 feet between steel shooters
  • Target system requirements remain unchanged: AR500 steel, min 3/8" thickness, and reactive (20 degree angled, or free swinging, and non-fixed)
