Hi -- saw the calendar post for this Saturday for the range 4 100, 300, 600 yard day. I see that KD frames are available but I need to bring my own target.
Is a certain type of target appropriate? I have not shot at range 4 before so am unfamiliar with what is appropriate. I've used my one foot steel gong, IPSC cardboard torsos, and splatter targets when I shot at Ironman.
Planning to purchase targets if needed after work and greatly appreciate any advice.
Adam
I'm sorry I missed this post Adam.
The paper targets for long range are usually about 42"x42" or thereabouts (F Class is a bit larger). We have stocks of them at the clubhouse, but with the renovation, they're locked up and not available. You could gat the large "Shoot n See" type targets (I believe they are 24" x 24") but with any target (other than steel) you will not see the hits, even with a spotting scope.
My recommendation is to use steel as you get immediate visual and auditory feedback on your hits. As an alternate, dedicated Range 4 people who shoot paper invest in "target camera" systems.
I hope you had a good time on Range 4!
