Range 4 – 100/300/600 Yard Rifle Structured Fire – 0800-1300
OIC: John Monaccio RSOs: Tony Gregg and Mike Caison
Range Opens: The RSOs will open the Willis Road Gate 7 for target placement at 0800 – and close the gate at 0830 to conduct the Range Safety Brief and have first shot by 0845 from the 100yd line.
Parking: You may park behind the 100yd line for the 100yd session. You may park on the side access road for the 300yd session and the same (or on the roadway behind the 600yd line for the 600yd session.
Range Operation: This is a 100/300/600-yard structured fire day for Rifles Only – No shotguns, pistols or pistols using rifle calibers. The target line is static and the only firing line movement is from the 100 to the 300, then the 300 to the 600yd line.
We will begin at the 100yd line and fire for about 90 minutes, then go Cold to check targets and move to the 300-yard line where we will stay for about 90 minutes, then repeat the Cold cycle and move to the 600-yard line where we will remain for the remainder of the day. If you show up late or miss a Cold cycle, you will have to wait on the next cycle.
Report to Range Safety Officers as soon as you enter the range for other instructions. We may have changes so be flexible and we'll have a great shooting day.
KD Target Frames are available to members, come to the pits and the RSO will issue one for use – You will still need a target to staple on the frame.
Ensure you have an Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) available. If you don't have one, stop by the clubhouse and buy one for $1.00. Using ECIs aids the RSOs in the identification of firearm status and speeds up the unload and show clear safety process.
Steel Targets: Steel must be AR500, at least 3/8” and reactive (set at 20 degrees and able to move with the impact – they cannot be perpendicular to the firing line). Steel set at target points 25 - 50 only. Be prepared for a quick in and out of the pits so have your frame ready – Do not expect to be building the Taj Mahal. Steel cannot be engaged at the 100yd line per MCBQ SOPs, you can only shoot steel from the 300yd line and the 600yd line for large / magnum calibers. Bring paper targets if you want to shoot rifle at 100yds or if using large calibers (300WM, PRCs, 338, etc.).
Paper Targets: Please have your frame ready and perfected before coming to the range. You will not have time to be building the Taj Mahal, have your targets ready for a quick in and out of the pits.
Shooters: Hump it in and hump it out. It will be a heat index day with temps feeling like 100 degrees and high humidity. Bring targets, hydration, sunscreen, bug spray, food, shooting mats, etc., etc. – QSC provides none. You must wear hearing and eye protection while in the range per MCBQ regulations.
Membership cards will be inspected to ensure you are a current club member (liability and safety). Membership cards that have expired can be renewed at club house.
Guests must sign a liability waiver at the clubhouse, pay the $10 range fee and bring the Guest Pass to the RSO before shooting. Suggest you set your targets first and then handle the Guest process to avoid being late.
Dress accordingly as we expect full sun and hot temps.
