Range 1 – Recreational Fire

SCHEDULE

• 0800 – Range opens / setup
• 0845 – Safety brief
• 0900 – Live-fire begins
• 1145 – Final target placement/repair; no new shooters
• 1200 – Final live-fire session
• 1240 – Live-fire ends
• 1300 – Range clear of all personnel

The goal is approximately 45 minutes hot / 15 minutes cold.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Range 1 is a 320-yard unknown distance range. Recreational calibers are authorized up to and including 50 BMG.  .338 Lapua is prohibited on Range 1.  If RSOs are not present, do not enter the range.  Remain in the parking lot.

Shooters ages 8–17 are limited to rimfire firearms and must remain under direct adult supervision on the firing line. No one under 8 is permitted. ECIs are required in all firearms, with no exceptions, and may be purchased at the clubhouse.

Eye and ear protection must be provided by each shooter and is required for everyone on the range when the range is in a hot status.

PROHIBITED

• Fully automatic fire
• Binary/forced-reset triggers, bump stocks, or simulated automatic fire
• Tracer, incendiary, or API ammunition
• .338 Lapua
• .375/.416 CheyTac and similar boutique calibers
• Dueling trees, Texas Stars, or similar targets
• Shooting drills
• Trash, brass, or ammunition in Port-a-Johns
• Anything above .308/7.62mm on steel targets

Form 1 and Form 4 firearms are permitted. Strong-side OWB holster draws may be allowed at RSO discretion.

ARRIVAL AND FIREARM HANDLING

Cased firearms may be brought to the firing line during setup but must remain cased until the safety brief is complete and the line is declared hot. Late arrivals must sign in and receive an RSO safety brief before bringing gear forward.

Firearms not being used must remain cased. Any uncased firearm not being fired must have the action open, magazine/ammunition removed, safety on, and ECI inserted. Do not handle uncased firearms while the line is cold.

Be prepared to case all firearms at the final cease fire. Firearms needing cooling time should be cooled before 1130.

TARGETS

Bring your own targets, stands, tools, fasteners, PPE, and other needed materials. Targets are limited to paper, wood, plastic, and approved ballistic steel. Do not fire into the berm or air. Targets must remain within the impact area, withstand range winds, and not interfere with another shooter’s lane. Fallen targets may only be corrected during the next cold period.

Steel must be at least 3/8-inch AR500, angled toward the ground, free of excessive pitting or holes, and approved by an RSO.

• Braced pistol / PCC / rimfire rifle – 25 yd
• Shotgun, buckshot / birdshot – 11 yd
• Shotgun, slug – 55 yd
• 5.56mm / .223 ball – 110 yd
• 7.62mm / .308 ball – 165 yd
• 6.5 Creedmoor – 410 yd
• .300 Win Mag / .300 Norma Mag – 410 yd
• .50 caliber – 410 yd
• 6.8mm – Paper only

.500 S&W Magnum is not included in the magnum-pistol authorization. Non-metal pistol targets inside 25 yards must be as tall as the shooter.

CLEANUP

Remove all targets, trash, and shell casings before leaving and police your brass. QSC brass buckets are for brass only.
