Range 4 - 100/300/1000 Yards - Rifle (Read These Range Notes)

Range 4 – 100/300/1000 Yards - Rifle

We shoot from the 100-yard, 300-yard and 1000-yard lines.  Yes, it's not the usual Sunday R4.

We will end shooting at 1145, clear pits NLT 1200. Weather may shorten the day.

Range Opens

The Willis Road Gate 7 (the gate to the target line pits) will open at 0715GATE 7 WILL CLOSE AT 0745.  Be prepared for a quick target set up as we intend to have our Safety Brief at 0750 at the 100-yard line and first shots out at about 0800.  Upon confirmation that the QSC EMT is present, we will go HOT.

Do NOT expect to arrive at Gate 7 at 0745 and be able to place targets, you will be too late and will have to wait.

Questions? Call Kevin Roth at 703-928-7813.

Report to the Range Safety Officers as soon as you enter the pits for other instructions.  We may have changes so be flexible and we'll have a great shooting day. Known Distance (KD) Target Frame are available at the R4 pits. Contact the Pit RSO and they will issue you a frame for use (no target, you still must bring your own).

Steel Targets

Ballistic steel targets must be a minimum of 3/8" thick and constructed of AR-500 steel.

Minimum engagement distances for portable ballistic steel targets:

  • 5.56mm / .223 Ball - 110 yards
  • 7.62mm / .308 Ball - 110 yards
  • .300 Win Mag - 320 yards

Have your frame perfected before coming to range. You do not have time to fool around and build the Taj Mahal, have your steel target sorted out for quick install / take down.  Don't be that guy...come ready.

We may move the firing lines early and/or close the range early if the line completes firing or if shooters run out of ammo. Do NOT assume the ending range time is good and show up late, just get here early.

Please ensure you have an Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) available.  If you don't have one, stop by the clubhouse and buy one for $1.00.  Using one aids the RSOs in the identification of firearm status and speeds up the unload and show clear safety process.

Eye and Ear Protection is Mandatory for everyone on the Range.

Membership cards will be inspected to ensure you are a current club member (liability and safety). Membership cards that have expired can be renewed at club house.

Parking

  • Parking at 100-yards permitted on grass behind the 100-yard line.
  • Parking at 300-yards along the side road behind the 300-yard line.
  • Parking at 1000-yards on the hill behind the 1000-yard line.
