Hi, I am completely new to steel challenge and was looking for advice as I am interested in the shoot in 2 weeks. Do I just sign up on practiscore and show up or do I have to register with USPSA and then sign up? Also, what equipment do I need for this match aside from pistol, mags, ear/eye pro? What is a safe round count? thanks in advance.

Never shot Steel Challenge and interested in the Match this month
Did you ever find a answer to this question? I plan to do a steel challenge in 2020 as well
Jhuggins, I emailed someone at the club and they basically told me to bring a gun, some ammo, eyes, ears, water, basically what I would normally bring to the range to shoot a pistol. Dont buy anything for the first few matches. That was pretty accurate. The Match was ok, but I found USPSA more interesting. I would leave you with for either USPSA or steel challenge, just come with a gun, a 6 mags and pouches for those mags along with 200 rounds. Youll be able to shoot the match and youll figure out what you may need or dont need after that match.
Sign up on practiscore and show up. You will most likely get an email with instructions prior to the match. Depending on what you sign up for, you will need a PCC or handgun, 5 magazines, ammo and PPE. If shooting a centerfire handgun, you will need a safe, decent quality strong-side holster. WRT round count, you will be shooting a minimum of 25 rounds per stage. Multiply that by the number of stages and then at least double it. Worst case scenario you bring ammo home.
You only need a uspsa member number if you plan on registering your results.
do you know when can we register for the steel challenge in February?
We have added steel challenge to the Club Calendar for June 20th, July 18th, August 22nd and September 19th. You sign up through PractiScore.
We added a Match Portal to the website and are adding relevant information to the top level page, as well as a weekly Club Newsletter where we list events and updates. We scrubbed the entire email list and while we believe we matched every member to an email, we still had some that were bad. If you are not getting our email, please check your junk folder for Quanticoshootingclub.com and/or use the subscribe section on the Club's main web page to sign up.
I hope this answers questions, if not, please feel free to reach out.
