I am looking to plan my first trip to the range. I don't yet have my DBIDS card. Would I have time to go through that process and still make it to the range, or would DBIDS be its own trip?
I would like to zero my rifle (.223 bolt gun) at 100yds and try and stretch its legs a little if possible. Which range would be most appropriate for that?
Looking forward to meeting fellow members and participating in whatever way I can. If anyone would want to link up for a range day and maybe help me get my bearings I'd be very grateful.
Thanks!
Can't help with your DBIDS question, but as far as the rifle/range and sighting in, ironman is a commonly available range and it goes up to 440 yards, so you can setup at 100 and then move your target(s) back when the range goes cold. There's some planning involved because you can't jsut check or move your targets whenever, you have to wait for a cold range. It's typically 45 hot, 15 cold so moving your targets means you're there for at least 2 hours.
The Visitor's office is open Saturday mornings until 11am, or M-F. Details are on their web page.
I made it out last Saturday, no issues getting on base. Had a great time on Ironman range. Looking forward to the next trip.
