One of the comments I hear on Range 4 is when are we going to shoot 100 yds  or 100 to 600 yds.   Interesting question as in Sept to December we did that  about every Saturday and then shot 800/1000 on Sundays.  Why not on Sunday...because Rg 4 is a 1000 yd range, and 100 to 450 yd can be done on Rg 305 which has been open a lot , 300 meters  can be shot on Rg 1.  So, if you wanted to shoot short range, and could not shoot Saturdays,  Sept to Oct on Rg 4, unable to shoot on Rg1 and Rg 305, then the problem is not Rg 4 is always shooting longer ranges.   

Lets be realistic here,   you can't expect expect Volunteer RSO's to be on duty on Rg 4 both Saturdays and Sundays just in case you show up and want to shoot a specific distance.   RSO's schedule the shooting schedule on Rg 4 mostly for long range 800/1000 yds shooting because other ranges provide short distance firing.  After all.....Range 4 is a 1000 yd range and such ranges are few and far between on the East Coast of USA !

Of course Range 4 could be open more , if you would help out, get RSO qualified and help out.  Don't take much to qualify and its rewarding to run a range.   Some RSO's only got a morning so with coordination with other RSO's,  they help run the range for 2 hours , shoot for an hour or two and scoot.  That scenario helps the other RSO's who can stay longer get a chance to shoot.   SO.....can you spare 3 or 4 hours ?
