1000 yd Milk Jug Challenge is a modification of the Long Range Shooters of Utah event where you get 10 shots to hit a milk jug (or steel plate gallon milk jug replica) at 1000 yds.
Our club changed this up:
a. You get 5 shots only..no spotters or warm up / ranging shots. Make it in 5 shots, you get the award sticker for your truck. Fail to make it in 5 shots, come back next week and try again.
b. If you hit the jug on first shot (first attempt or any follow on attempt by a club member), the club gives you the sticker and there is no charge for this shooting contest.
c. Cost is $8. In that is $5 to pay for your award sticker and $3 to go to reimburse cost of the steel plate milk jug & stand. Cost to re shoot if you don't make it the first 5 shots: come back next week with $3 and get 5 more tries. When you qualify .. manage to hit the jug and the sticker is yours. Want a second sticker...$8 and re start from scratch.
d. Shots must be witnessed by 2 members of the club and we set time aside on 1000 yd line to hold this event for those who are interested.
e. All calibers are authorized except 50 BMG. Event can be shot prone or from a bench, shooter may have a spotter to assist. Event is only 1000 yds.
The "Sticker " **** has become a major objective of every long range shooter we have at 1000 yds and peer pressure is huge !
We plagiarized LRS Utah sticker a bit ...theirs is top shelf. LRS Utah is in support of what we are doing as long as standards are enforced...our 5 shots vs their 10 shots satisfied that concern on "standards".
Our sticker has a AI sniper rifle on it and text that reads:
1000 yd Milk Jug Challenge
Range 4 Quantico
Run Your Bolt, Not Your Mouth.
Its a killer sticker and big bragging rights around our club.
Doubting Thomas's ? Well, go buy a gallon of milk and try shooting it at 1000 yds and come back and tell us its too easy. If it is....hats off !!!!....but ya gotta show up on Range 4 and show us.
