Range 4 - 300/600/1000 YD Precision Rifle (READ NOTES!)

Bring everything you need for a successful range day: targets, hydration, sunscreen, shooting mat, stapler, etc., etc. Hump everything in and out. Contact an RSO if you need a KD frame.

Anyone shooting a 338 caliber – Airspace clearance only granted when we go HOT so please, bring another caliber with you just in case 338 is denied.

This is a new Course of Fire so pay attention:

This will be a 300 / 600 / 1000-yard day.

We will begin at the 300yd line, move back to the 600yd line then finish the day at the 1,000yd line. The firing lines will be fixed at the respective yard lines with targets fixed at the pits. The Club may place a “Know You Limits” steel target (decreasing sized targets all at the same distance) on the right side of the range for all shooters to use (under RSO supervision) once on the 1,000yd line; those are the only targets allowed outside the target pits.

The RSOs will open Gate 7 for access to the pits NLT 0715 and we will close the pits at 0745.

We will have the safety brief at 0745 on the 300yd line and hope to have first shot NLT 0800.  Weapons remain cleared/cased until the range goes HOT; no touching of weapons while COLD.

Any scheduled shooting breaks where shooters take more than the allotted time will reduce the time of the next relay. If breaks are not needed, we will recapture time and continue to shoot.

Remove targets from the pits to the schedule or you will have to wait.

New shooters can show up at a designated break and place their targets, however, we will keep to schedule. If you need more time or a 100yd zero, load development, etc., Ironman will be open and should be used instead of Range 4.

We will shoot for 30 minutes at the 300yd line (until 0830), take a 15-minute target check break (until 0845), then shoot for another 30 minutes (until 0915).

After the second session, we take a 20-minute break to do a target check (until 0935) and move back to the 600yd line. We will shoot for 30-minutes (until 1005) and take a 15-minute break for a target check (until 1020) and then shoot for another 30 minutes (until 1050). We will then take a 20-minute break for a target check (until 1110) and move back to the 1,000yd line to finish the day. There will be no target check breaks while at the 1,000yd line.

RSOs will stay at the 1,000yd line until 1300, at which time they will close down the range. RSOs can modify this course of fire based on the numbers of shooters present and their needs. For example, if no shooters want to shoot 300 or 600 yards, we may directly move to the next relay.

RSOs reserve firing positions 1 -5 for their use. You may place electronic or paper targets on range positions 6 – 15. Contact an RSO for a KD frame if needed. Shooters can place steel targets from positions 20 – 40. Positions 40 – 50 are reserved for club steel and the KYL. Minimum caliber distances apply for steel and some calibers cannot be shot on steel at 300yds.

General Information:
Eye and ear protection, along with Empty Chamber Indicators (ECIs) are mandatory.  RSOs may have ECIs for $1 and they are available for $1 at the QSC Office.
All Shooters come prepared for quick target setup and breaks.

Steel Targets
Ballistic steel targets must be a minimum of 3/8" thick, constructed of AR-500 steel and be mounted or hung with a forward cant to deflect all bullet fragments towards the ground.
Steel targets must not be compromised - no excessive pitting or holes in the steel.
RSOs will inspect steel to ensure adherence, if not, those targets will not be permitted on R4.

Range Access - No member vehicles on the ranges. The OIC may use his POV to setup the KYL target but his is the only POV allowed on the range.

300-Yard Line Parking – Range 4 has a dirt access road on the left side of the range by Gate 9. Drive down that dirt road to the 300yd line and park on the left in the grass area. Park back from the 300-yd line and not on the road as RSO safety vehicles will use that area. Bring all your gear to and from your vehicle from the left side of the roadway.

600-Yard Line Parking – Same as the 300yd line, to the left of the roadway while keeping the road clear for the safety vehicles. Bring your gear to and from your vehicle from the left side of the roadway. You may have to park across the street at the 700 and 800yd lines if there are a lot of shooters.

1000-Yard Line Parking – Park at the top of the range and bring year gear down using the stairways.

Membership cards will be inspected to ensure you are a current club member (liability and safety). Membership cards that have expired can be renewed at club house.
