EMPTY CHAMBER INDICATORS

Empty Chamber Indicators (ECIs) are mandatory for all firearms on ranges managed by the QSC. No exceptions. If you need ECIs for your firearms, please stop by the clubhouse and purchase one for each firearm you intend to shoot on the range.

.50 CALIBER WEAPONS

Firing some .50 caliber weapons aboard MCBQ requires air space clearance by Range Control that can only granted at the time of range opening. It is strongly advised you bring a back-up rifle of another caliber in the event MCBQ Range Control cannot clear the airspace on the day of the shooting event.

If we are shooting inside the Range 1 shoot house, you may be denied shooting some .50 caliber weapons. It is advised to bring a back-up weapon of another caliber.

RANGE OPERATING RULES

These operational rules apply to all ranges aboard MCBQ managed by the QSC:

• At the start of the range day, you MAY bring CASED firearms to the firing line during target set up time.

• ALL FIREARMS WILL REMAIN CASED until AFTER the safety briefing is complete AND RSOs have communicated that the Firing Line is Hot.

• There will be NO handling of uncased firearms while the firing line is COLD.

• When a weapon is on the firing line and is not being fired, it will be made safe. The bolt or slide will be open, magazine/ ammo source will be removed, the safety will be in the “on” position and an ECI will be inserted in the weapon’s chamber.

• All weapons on the firing line will be pointed down range at all times.

• Our objective is to maintain a cycle of 45/15 minute hot/cold times throughout the day.

Shooters showing up throughout the day will first sign in and then receive a safety brief from an RSO prior to carrying gear to the firing line.

All shooters and spectators must provide their own hearing and eye protection. The QSC does not sell, rent or loan hearing or eye protection. If shooters or spectators are found on the range without proper hearing and eye protection, they will be asked to leave the range until such time they can meet this requirement.

RANGE AGE POLICY

The following policy is in force for all ranges aboard MCBQ managed by the QSC:

• No one under 8 years old will be allowed on any range managed by the QSC. This rule includes observation. There are no exceptions to this rule.

DRAWING FROM HOLSTERS ON RANGE 1

The following rules apply to drawing from holsters on Range 1:

If the firing line is inside the shooting house - Drawing from holsters is prohibited per the USMC Range 1 SOP. The OIC and RSOs on duty cannot make exceptions to this rule.

• If the firing line is forward of the shooting house - Drawing from holster is permitted at the discretion of the RSOs. If the range is crowded, the RSOs may restrict all drawing from the holster until the range is less crowded.

RULES FOR HOLSTERS

The following holster rules apply to all ranges aboard MCBQ managed by the QSC.

If drawing from the holster is permitted by the RSO team, the ONLY holsters shooters may draw from are Outside the Waistband (OWB) strong side holsters. Any other holstering units may not to be used. There are no exceptions to this rule.

TARGET SYSTEMS

Shooters must bring their own targets, target stands, tools, fasteners and any other materials required to deploy a target system on the range.

Targets are limited to paper, wood, plastic, and approved ballistic steel.

Please ensure your target stands can withstand the wind on the ranges. If your target falls over because it’s not properly anchored, you will have to wait until the next cold time to make corrections.

All shooters must bring target systems with them to the range. The QSC does not provide target systems or target system components (e.g. frames, stands, uprights) to members or guests. You will not be permitted to fire a weapon on any ranges without a target system in place. In other words, you will not be permitted to fire any weapon into thin air.

The following target systems are not permitted on QSC-managed ranges aboard MCBQ:

• Gimmick targets (e.g. dueling trees, Texas stars, spinners, pop-up targets)

• Targets made of materials that shatter (e.g. glass, plexiglass)

• Targets that explode (e.g. Tannerite)

• Organic targets (e.g. pumpkins, watermelons)

• Any targets or target systems that portray political, religious, offensive or celebrity images

The OIC and/or RSOs on duty have the authority to deny members and guests the use of any targets or target systems they believe violate these rules or consider unsafe.

STEEL REACTIVE TARGETS (SRTs)

All steel targets must be mounted or hung with a forward cant or the ability to react / rebound with a bullet hit deflecting all bullet fragments towards the ground.

• Steel targets must not be compromised meaning there must not be excessive pitting or holes in the targets

• RSOs will inspect steel reactive targets to ensure these requirements are met. If they are not, you will not be permitted to use those steel targets on Range 1.

CLEAN UP: PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT

All target material, shell casings, and trash must be removed from the range after firing. There should be no trace of activity left on the range other than lead in the berms. If you pack it in, pack it out.

POLICE YOUR BRASS
