This is a dual use precision fire range day.

• KYL will be using the right side of the range (spots 35 - 45)
• 1,000yd paper and electronic shooters on the left between spots 1 - 14
• Non-KYL shooters shooting steel on spots 20 - 30 

KYL is to test a shooter's DOPE, skills and precision

• KYL is not to check velocities, loads, etc.
• Use the left side for anything other than KYL
• Use a Recreational Fire Range to check or gain zero, test loads, etc.

Remember that this is a 1,000yd precision fire day, not rec fire.

• The firing line is fixed at the 1,000yd line for all shooters
  • ​The target line for paper, electronic and non-KYL shooters is fixed at the 1,000yd line - no targets between the firing and target lines
• The QSC will be placing Club Steel, of varying sizes, at varying distances between 700 and 1,035yds distant for the KYL event
• No 50cal or .338 calibers for KYL
• KYL steel will be placed between lanes 35 - 45
  • ​Steel will be placed on Lane 43 at 700, 800, 900, 1,000 and 1,035yds from the firing line. We will do our best to have at least 1MOA targets at each target spot 
  • Steel will be placed between 700yds and 1,000yds from the firing line in lanes 35-39, Steel will be varying sizes and distances from the firing line
  • Range cards will be available
  • Depending on conditions, we may have to adjust any CoF
  • The intent of KYL is to test your skills and DOPE, NOT to camp out testing loads, getting velocities, or for any other reason that clogs the lane(s), etc.
    • ​If you need velocities and testing, use the left side of the lane where the paper target shooters will be firing​

Range Opening

• RSOs will be opening the pits at 0715 and closing at 0745
• KYL shooters should report to the firing line and muster around lane 35 (remember, you're not setting up anything)
• Paper, Electronic and Non-KYL Target shooters report to Gate 7 off Willis Road at 0715 to place targets in the pits and on the designated lanes PER THE GUIDANCE ABOVE
• We will conduct the Safety Brief on the 1000-yard line at 0800
• Upon confirmation that the QSC EMT is present, we will go HOT
• There will be unscheduled breaks to conduct any target maintenance required, but no breaks to set new targets

Course of Fire

• This is a Know Your Limits (KYL) 700 to 1035 YD Rifle range day (as described above) and,
• A 1,000yd precision fire day for paper, electronic targets and non-KYL steel shooters

General Information

• Welcome - Members with capable equipment and a desire to learn, or improve their precision rifle marksmanship.  Please contact Kevin Roth (kevin.roth@quanticoshootingclub.com) in advance of range day.
• Empty Chamber Indicators (ECIs) are mandatory for all uncased firearms.  RSOs MAY have ECIs for $1 and they are available for $1 at the QSC Office.
• All Shooters come prepared for quick target setup.
• No vehicles on any grass, keep on the roads.
• Targets, hydration, sunscreen, bug spray, and food - bring yours-- none provided.
• YOU MUST wear hearing protection and have eye protection per USMC base regulations.
• Membership cards will be inspected to ensure you are a current club member (liability and safety). Membership cards that have expired can be renewed at club house.

• No Full Auto.
• No Binary.
• No Tracers / Incendiary.
• Form 1, Form 4 OK.
• No 50cal or 338 on steel

Parking

• Parking at 1000 yds permitted on the hill behind the 1000 yard line.

If firing a 338 caliber, understand you may be refused if the airspace or distance X (6400yds) cannot be cleared. We ONLY know if 338 calibers can be approved on the morning of the event. Be prepared and bring an alternate caliber/rifle if possible.  

All Target Frames

• Set up time is 0715 - 0745. 
• UPON ARRIVAL SEE AN RSO FOR GUIDANCE AS TO WHERE TO SET UP. 
• GATE 7 WILL CLOSE AT 0745. 
• Don't come mid-morning and expect us to stop the range so you can set up, we come on time so you come on time. Big Boy Rules here.
• Steel Targets are set at Lanes 30-50 only.
• Steel Targets.  Have your frame perfected before coming to the range. You do not have time to fool around and build the Taj Mahal, have your steel target sorted out for quick install / take down. Don't be that guy...come ready.
