The Quantico Shooting Cub (QSC) recently began a Skeet and Trap shooting mentorship program for single military personnel assigned to MCBQ. The "Shotgun Sports Mentorship Program" (SSMP) was designed as a way for single members, who may not have access to shotguns, to come out and shoot skeet and trap. We match an experienced QSC shotgunner one-on-one with a single military member. We provide a loner shotgun and 50 rounds of ammunition so they can shoot two, 25-round "games"; all they pay is $10 for the two games they shoot. In addition, we also offer any E-1 to E-4 a free, 2-year QSC membership!
This is a low cost means to experience the speed and thrill of shooting two shotgun sports while learning from experienced QSC members!
Participation is easy:
- Visit the QSC clubhouse located half-way between the Fire Station and Weapons Training Battalion (MCB-4), on a weekend and obtain a free membership.
- While at the clubhouse sign-up for a Mentored Skeet and Trap Shoot – or send an email requesting an appointment to shoot skeet and trap to steve.austin@quanticoshootingclub.com.
- QSC will provide an experienced mentor to conduct orientation on skeet and trap fields safety, etiquette, target shooting advice – for free.
- The mentor will provide Marine / Navy person a sporting shotgun to use – for free.
- QSC will provide, while inventories allow, 50 rounds of shotgun ammunition, enough for 2 games to participating Marines and Navy personnel – for free.
- Marine and Navy personnel will pay just $10 each to cover the cost of targets used during the shoot.
The QSC held it's first SSMP event on May 11th with 5 Marines who came out to enjoy a great day on the shotgun ranges. Sign up and make this free program work work for you!
