Shotgun - International Bunker Trap / American Trap / Skeet Fields

International Bunker Trap Will Be Open on Sunday, 4 October! Quantico Shooting Club's premier shotgun shooting asset is the International Bunker Trap range. The Shotgun Range will be open from 0900-1400.

The Shotgun Range includes one International Trap field for international single and double-trap events, three Skeet fields and an American Trap field.  Up to 7.5 shot ammunition may be used on this range – no buckshot or slugs. The Club provides clay targets for members and guests at $4.00 a round (25 targets) or $3.00 per round if buying prepaid card of 10 games for $30.00.

Most club members probably have never used the International Bunker Trap; maybe other members have never heard about it at all. There are two primary differences between International Bunker Trap and American Trap. The first is that an Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) clay target flies at 45 mph; however, an International Bunker Trap clay target flies at 68 mph. The Bunker's extra target speed requires a shooter to have faster reaction times. The second difference is that Bunker Trap targets fly at wider angles than American Trap, up to 45 degrees, and may also be thrown higher or lower. Each shooter gets the same targets during a round of 25, but a shooter does not know for sure in what sequence the targets will be thrown.

Come check out Bunker Trap on Sunday, 4 October. Do not worry if you have never done it before. We will provide you an orientation of the Bunker Trap Range so you can feel comfortable and have fun while experiencing the challenge for yourself.  Also, the shooting stands are under cover.

We will also open the Skeet fields and the American Trap fields for those sportsman that are interested.

Skeet or improved cylinder chokes are recommended for Skeet. Improved cylinder through improved modified are recommended for American Trap. Modified through extra full are recommended for International Trap. This will give you the best chance of hitting the target. Shotguns of any gauge may be used however the gun must have a minimum barrel length of 18 inches and a stock. No short-barreled, “sawed-off”, or magazine fed shotguns may be used. The gun must also be legally classified as a shotgun, as defined in 18 U.S.C., § 921(A)(5) and 27 CFR § 478.11. An RSO, Field Director, or member of the board has the final decision as to whether a shotgun may be used on the range.
