Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Reflecting on this past year; it has been a bit of a wild ride for our club. Too many range closings which were completely unanticipated by those who plan our events, changes in BoD, changes in office administration, frustrations, successes, new shooters, improved marksmanship, and a 2012 calendar...so what else is new! All typical for a shooting club whether hosted by a military facility or not. North State Shooting Club and Coastal Carolina Shooting Club are two other military hosted facilities that now have similar requirements to QSC. It has to do with security and safety both of which are a concern to all our members and guests. A hassle yes, an obstacle, no. Lets all remember this as we move into 2012.
Speaking of 2012, QSC has an opportunity that should not be missed. We will be offering a RSO class (click here for instructions) on Saturday, January 14th from 0900 to 1100 followed by the procotored exam from 1100 to 1200. This class is also posted on the clbu calendar. For those planning to stay a bit longer, there will be opportunity to learn "how to open a range". Please navigate to our Club Multimedia page for the excellent RSO instructional videos which have been done by our own Doug Hurst.
Be safe, and enjoy family and friends during this Christmas season...Happy New Year to all.
QSC Palma Weekend Scores
Congrats to the winners and to all who came out to shoot and support our club. Thanks for all those who volunteered their time to make this match possible.
Please note that the membership meeting has been moved to the third weekend. It is important for all voting members to attend as a new Board of Directors are to be elected.
Steve Mullins (Board Member at Large) has agreed to arrange for exam proctoring on a Saturday!
This is a great opportunity for those who have entertained becoming a RSO or are part way thru their examinations.
This session will take place on Saturday, January 14th starting at 9am. Now here's the catch...we need at least 15 RSO candidates to make this happen. In addition, after the examination there will be a session on how to check out a range. Please send your reservation to the ops officer email. If we have more than 15 RSO candidates then it's even better.
It's time for our members to step up as the RSO program is the back bone to rec fire, matches, and more.
Newest club multimedia video titled "Checking Out A Range" by our wizard Doug Hurst is now posted. Please check it out!
The last long range rifle event for 2011 will take place this weekend so be sure to come out and support the event and club. Weather will be cold but sunny.
Check the club calendar for any rec fire postings until the club closes for the holidays; QSC will be closed starting 12/23/2011 thru 1/5/2012.
